Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum + Bonus Scheme

Location: Riddings, DE55 4BR

Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday

We're looking for an experienced Transport Lead to join the Silver X Group at our Alfreton depot. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role for someone who enjoys ownership, thrives on operational challenge, and takes pride in running an efficient, compliant transport operation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Planning and managing daily transport operations, including route planning, fleet utilisation, and driver allocation
  • Ensuring full compliance with Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive, and tachograph legislation
  • Managing and supporting a team of drivers, including performance, attendance, and day-to-day issues
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce empty mileage, improve efficiency, and increase revenue through effective planning and backloads
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Using transport and telematics systems to manage performance, costs, and compliance
  • Driving continuous improvement across safety, service, and profitability

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in transport planning or transport operations
  • Strong knowledge of Drivers' Hours, tachographs, and WTD legislation
  • Experience working with a fleet of 10+ vehicles (preferred)
  • Confident people manager with excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Highly organised, able to prioritise and make decisions in a fast-moving environment
  • IT literate, with experience using TMS and telematics systems (Stream, Webfleet or similar)
  • Commercially minded, with a focus on cost control and operational efficiency
