As a Production Operative (Runner), you will assemble and inspect product to ensure the highest quality product is provided to our customers. You will be responsible for your work area to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the area. You will set up and monitor the production of product in your area and participate in the continuous improvement process at the site to address safety, production and quality improvements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Comply with all company Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Load and unload products from the production line.
- Assist in setting up line equipment and machinery for production runs.
- Ensure proper placement of product in finish trays and pallets.
- Ensure package and product quality.
- Keep up with the pace of production and production standards.
- Use hand tools, knives, and machinery safely.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain a clean and orderly workplace through proper housekeeping procedures.
- Maintain good hand‑eye coordination and fine motor skills.
- Assist in change overs as required.
- Be proactive in ensuring the integrity of the food safety and food quality system.
- Report and take necessary action to prevent food safety and quality problems from occurring.
- Comply with the company’s requirement for the use of PPE.
- Maintain high levels of personal hygiene.
- Work any shift preferred.
- Support the floor leader by ordering stock from the warehouse and organising stock to be returned.
- Move pallets to the feeding position as per floor leader instructions.
- Use company equipment such as pump trucks, wrapping machines and goods lifts.
- Be responsible for the production floor in the absence of the floor leader during a run.
- Receive production targets and KPIs from the Operations Manager and manage delegation and staffing.
- Work with the warehouse team to drop required products for production.
- Work with the Quality team and Project Manager to ensure smooth production and reduce downtime.
- Serve as the first point of contact for handling issues in the production room.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting on equipment and escalate unresolved issues.
- Set up for each activity according to standard operating procedures.
- Coach production operatives on set‑up procedures to ensure SOP compliance.
- Ensure workstations are set up for each production activity in a way that aligns with business standards and production targets.
- Share recommendations for improvements to safety, equipment, and SOPs with the Operations Manager.
- Demonstrate leadership during adoption of new processes and continually seek opportunities to increase efficiency and quality.
- Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisor or production manager.
