In this role, you'll work at the intersection of data, engineering and commercial insight — helping shipowners and operators understand and improve how their vessels perform. You'll analyse performance and emissions data, contribute to the evolution of our analytical models, and support a range of projects across the business. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex problems, cares about getting the details right, and wants to grow their expertise in a collaborative, fast‑moving environment. • Help translate complex performance and emissions data into clear, actionable insights, developing a strong understanding of how our system works and the value it delivers.
  • Work across a range of projects – from emissions compliance to commercial claims and fleet benchmarking – building your technical breadth and deepening your expertise.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the team, adapting to different timelines and requirements while developing a broader understanding of the business. As you grow, take ownership of specific analytical workflows and client deliverables.

What you bring to the team:

  • 1–3 years of experience in a similar vessel or energy performance role.
  • Background in marine engineering, naval architecture, or a related technical/scientific discipline from a top institution.
  • Understanding of vessel performance metrics, hull and propeller efficiency, and Speed/Consumption analysis.
  • Understanding of noon report data and voyage data analysis.
  • Understanding of charter party clauses related to speed and consumption warranties.
  • Familiarity with maritime emissions frameworks (CII, EU ETS, FuelEU).
  • Experience working with AIS data or vessel tracking datasets is a plus.
  • Passion for shipping and technology.
  • Programming experience in Python and SQL.
  • Basic statistics knowledge including regression analysis, outlier detection, and time series.
  • Exposure to machine learning or predictive modelling.
  • Good working knowledge of analytical and presentation tools (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Google Sheets, Google Slides).
  • Ability to break down complex problems, translate data into actionable recommendations, and present findings clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Business understanding and commercial awareness with a problem‑solving mindset.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with strong listening and communication skills.
  • Proactive and decisive, with sharp attention to detail and the ability to take ownership.
  • Collaborative team player who genuinely cares about the business and the people around them.
  • Adaptable and able to perform across diverse projects and tight timelines, with the guidance of senior team members.

  • Generous compensation with additional performance incentives.
  • Coverage under the company’s collective health insurance plan.
  • Opportunity to work alongside experienced people with deep knowledge in software engineering, data science & shipping business who are always eager to mentor.
  • Signal’s hybrid remote work policy currently includes 9 working days at premises per month, during which happy hour events take place.
