Responsibilities

  • Managing the daily operations of the school medical room, ensuring it is a clean, stocked, and safe environment for unwell children.
  • Supervising and organising first‐aid trained staff from across the school as required.
  • Providing first aid to pupils, staff, and visitors, and assessing injuries to determine appropriate action.
  • Leading on first‐aid arrangements, including conducting risk assessments and maintaining Individual Health Care Plans (IHCPs).
  • Overseeing the secure storage and administration of medication in line with school policy and parental consent.
  • Maintaining accurate records of incidents and treatments, ensuring confidentiality in compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Being committed to undergoing necessary training—such as First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid—if you do not currently hold these qualifications.
  • Remaining calm under pressure, working autonomously, and communicating effectively with parents and staff.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, including the use of school MIS systems (like Arbor) and Google Workspace.
  • Committing to safeguarding and inclusive education.

Qualifications

  • Good level of literacy and numeracy (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent).
  • First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid and Mental Health First Aid certificates or a commitment to acquire them.
  • Experience in safeguarding and inclusive education.
