Job Overview

This post is for internal candidates to The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. If you are not currently working within the Trust, your application will not be reviewed and will be automatically rejected at shortlisting.

The successful applicant will play a key role in delivering high-quality service at the Trust. The post holder will work within the Respiratory Team, ensuring that patients referred by their GP with suspected cancer are given an appointment within two weeks. Responsibilities include monitoring and booking referrals to meet national and local cancer pathway targets. The role requires working independently with minimal supervision, collaborating closely with the respiratory team, including consultants, CNS, and operational staff, as well as other divisions like Clinical Support Services and the Patient Access Team.

There will be some travel between sites.

Main duties of the job

  1. Booking and organizing initial appointments in Lung, updating care flow, and liaising with clinical teams for prioritization based on clinical need.
  2. Reviewing email upgrades and coordinating appointments.
  3. Updating Somerset records with the latest information.
  4. Liaising with clinical teams to coordinate inpatient referrals.
  5. Escalating capacity issues to operational and clinic teams.
