Job Overview

INTERNAL ONLY

This fixed-term post for 12 months involves the day-to-day management of the Surgical Centre\’s medical staffing rotas, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and clinical safety at all times.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent planning and organisational skills. You will work closely with Clinical Directors, Consultants, the Senior Management team, and the Medical People Services Department to support these busy departments.

The post holder should be proficient in Microsoft Office, attentive to detail, and an effective communicator. You will collaborate with Medical People Services to review and improve processes and systems, aiming to enhance the efficiency of locum booking, reduce Trust spend, increase patient safety, and minimize errors.

Main duties of the job

  • Serve as the point of contact for teams seeking advice on medical staffing vacancies, both short and long term.
  • Review unexpected absences daily and proactively find solutions to mitigate rota gaps, escalating concerns to the senior Operational Team if unresolved.
  • Arrange locum cover for Doctors in the Surgical Centre.
  • Contact doctors directly for urgent cover needs via calls, emails, or texts.
  • Collaborate with Consultant staff and Medical teams to fill temporary vacancies and develop long-term solutions for rota gaps.
  • Establish and maintain effective administrative systems between Medical Staffing, HR, and Management, managing change effectively.
  • Coordinate weekly updates with Medical Staffing on vacancy progress, investigate delays, and resolve issues with relevant staff.
