We are seeking applications from suitably qualified Radiographers already working as a Band 6 in the Radiotherapy Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The successful applicant must have an in-depth knowledge and a passion for radiotherapy review. The post will involve working clinically reviewing patients receiving radiotherapy as well as keeping up clinical skills in treatment and pre-treatment. There will also be some managerial responsibilities. On-going professional development is actively encouraged.
Main duties of the job:- Be an expert in radiotherapy review
- Provide advice and training
- Maintain clinical skills
- Support Radiographers
- Some management responsibilities for staff appraisals etc
We actively encourage role development and support staff in achieving their personal goals and aspirations. All staff have the opportunity to work flexible hours; full-time posts work 37.5 hours over four long days with a day off. All staff participate in bank holiday working, on-call for emergency patients at the weekend.
The department consists of 3 Varian Truebeam Linear Accelerators, a Gulmay Unit and a Toshiba wide bore CT scanner with radiographer-led palliative virtual simulation using Eclipse. We have an active Clinical Trials department and participate in most major trials. We are expanding our SABR service and have introduced tabletess radiotherapy using SGRT and plan to expand this service in the next few months. Further technical developments are planned for introduction in the near future.
