An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Medical Secretary team in the Paediatric department within the Women and Children\’s Centre. The successful candidate will support the Consultants by managing their workload, diaries, and clinical correspondence, ensuring efficient service delivery.
Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs (grades 9 – 4) or equivalent, RSA stage 3 typing, word processing skills or equivalent experience, knowledge of MS Office, and be working towards NVQ Level 3 Business/Medical Admin or AMSPAR. Strong planning, prioritisation, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential.
Knowledge of secretarial/PA practices, Health & Safety, and confidentiality/data protection is required. The role offers valuable experience in managing a busy Medical Secretaries\’ office.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will produce accurate clinical and general correspondence, often using complex medical terminology from audio transcription. Handling telephone calls from patients, including distressed or anxious individuals, and resolving their queries sensitively is also part of the role.

You will work alongside a team of Paediatrics Medical Secretaries supporting Consultants and Nurse Specialists across various specialties, providing a diverse and interesting workload.
