Overview

Clinical Technologist (Dosimetrist) role at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust in the Radiotherapy Physics Department. A new opportunity within the Radiotherapy Physics Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for a Band 6 Clinical Technologist (Dosimetrist) to join our friendly team.

We offer a contemporary Radiotherapy Service and have implemented/expanded key service improvements including AI auto-contouring and surface-guided radiotherapy (SGRT). We are commissioning our new Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator equipped with SGRT and aim to be clinical in September 2025. We have many exciting projects in the pipeline including moving our patient management system and treatment planning system to the cloud and several initiatives to improve both the efficiency and quality of our processes and treatments (e.g. RapidPlan, scripting, transit dosimetry).

We have a growing SABR program and are committed to improving the access to these techniques for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Support treatment planning and mould room services.
  • Routine treatment planning of a variety of treatment sites and fabrication of patient immobilisation devices.
  • Support future developments of the department, including quality/service and process improvement initiatives, and participate in CPD/training.

Equipment and systems

  • Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators equipped with SGRT, OBI, RapidArc, respiratory gating, and 6DoF couches.
  • Canon Exceed Large Bore CT scanner with Varian RGSC; Eclipse TPS; Limbus AI auto-contouring tool; RadCalc for secondary dose calculations.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Band 6 Clinical Technologist (Dosimetrist) or equivalent experience in dosimetry.
  • Willingness to engage in CPD/training and participate in quality/service improvement initiatives.
