Quantity Surveyor (Estimating Duties)
Mainly office based role for an Estimator & Quantity Surveyor located within a sensible commuting distance of North Greenwich. The successful individual will be responsible for all day-to-day tasks associated with estimating, multiple small to medium project cost control, BOQ production, cost management and monitoring, cost planning, monthly cost reporting and client billing.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Initial meeting with client and assessing project scope
  2. Producing accurate measures & take offs for projects
  3. Producing estimates & tenders for new projects
  4. Produce and update procurement schedules for all projects
  5. Prepare the required documents to issue to subcontractors to enable them to tender effectively for works packages
  6. Identify appropriate subcontractors for all aspects of works
  7. Prepare client cost reports and billing
  8. Manage and monitor variations and changes
  9. Assist in the financial appraisal of new opportunities
  10. Work closely with architects and other professionals
  11. Navigate and understand building regulations & codes
  12. Process project paperwork and travel to sites as required
  13. Monitor costs and expenditure across the construction process

Job Requirements

  1. Experience of managing cost on projects within industrial and commercial sectors
  2. Skills in Estimating, Cost Control, BOQ, Cost Management, and Cost Forecasting and Planning
  3. Experienced working within a principal building contractor
  4. Experienced in creating detailed cost reports
  5. Solid experience in the construction industry
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  7. Ability to work under pressure
  8. Professional certification is preferred, but not essential
  9. Driver’s license is essential; vehicle will be supplied
  10. Conversant with Microsoft Office, Excel, Project, Bluebeam and other programme software such as Asta Powerproject would be an advantage
  11. Experience of JCT & NEC contracts
  12. Educated as a minimum to HNC/HND/Degree level (or equivalent)
  13. Experience of Pre-Qualification and Tendering process for complex bespoke projects
