The Shore Group have been retained by a privately owned, high-performing £30M+ Design & Build office fit-out contractor to identify and appoint a Head of Preconstruction. This opportunity reflects the business’s commitment to evolving its preconstruction function in line with long-term growth.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a senior role where you will influence preconstruction strategy, shape the direction of a growing commercial team, and operate as a subject matter expert across all pre-construction and estimating activities. The successful candidate will join a business committed to long-term investment, innovation, and sustainable growth within the UK commercial interiors market.
As Head of Preconstruction, you assume full responsibility for the planning, estimating, and design coordination activities. In addition to leading the preconstruction function, this individual will play a key role in mentoring and developing the team, ensuring the seamless transition of projects from preconstruction through to delivery.
This is a high-impact, visible role with the scope to influence both immediate project outcomes and longer-term business planning.

Due the nature of the role, this person will ideally closely match the following:
- A minimum of 5 years in a senior preconstruction or estimating role within a reputable D&B office fit-out environment
- Experience of overseeing the planning, budgeting and design coordination process
- Proven ability to interpret and analyse technical drawings, conduct take-offs, and produce detailed cost plans, scopes, and tender programmes
- Experience of overseeing estimating and costing projects £5 Million +
- Direct experience managing and developing commercial teams and mentoring junior estimators or preconstruction staff
- Must have experience of dealing directly with clients and their appointed professional teams
- Experience of managing supply chain and Sub-Contractor relationships
- Experience negotiating complex structural and MEP packages is advantageous
