  • Overview

The Shore Group are working with a well-established subcontractor, seeking an Quantity Surveyor with a background in industrial projects.

My client is open to interviewing Quantity Surveyors at vaious levels - with candidate lead salaries.

This role will be mainly based out of their Greenwich office; estimating, costing, budgeting, forecasting, financial oversight from inception to completion etc. for their industrial projects, typically ranging from £10,000 - £2mil.

There will be occasional site visits based at Thames Refinery & Essex.

As long as you have experience working as a QS for industrial projects (or similar) please apply no matter your seniority level. This role will cater to your current level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend initial client meetings and assess project scope
  • Prepare accurate measurements and take-offs
  • Produce detailed estimates and tender submissions
  • Develop and manage procurement schedules
  • Prepare and issue tender documentation to subcontractors
  • Identify and engage suitable subcontractors across all work packages
  • Produce client cost reports and manage billing processes
  • Monitor and manage variations and project changes
  • Support financial appraisal of new opportunities
  • Collaborate closely with architects and other professionals
  • Ensure compliance with building regulations and codes
  • Manage project documentation and attend site visits as required
  • Monitor costs and expenditure throughout the construction lifecycle

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing project costs within industrial and commercial sectors
  • Strong expertise in estimating, BOQs, cost control, cost management, and forecasting
  • Background working for a principal/main contractor
  • Experience producing detailed cost reports
  • Solid track record within the construction industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure
  • Relevant professional certification (preferred but not essential)
  • Full UK driving licence (company vehicle provided)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project) and Bluebeam; knowledge of Asta Powerproject is advantageous
  • Working knowledge of JCT & NEC contracts
  • Minimum HNC/HND/Degree qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience with pre-qualification and tendering processes for complex bespoke projects
