The Shore Group have been appointed on behalf of a Tier 1 Fit Out Main Contractor to recruit a Director – Fit Out and Construction, reporting directly to the Board. Our client is a £300M + Group that specialise in Office Fit Out projects, both retrofit and interiors (CAT A+, CAT A and CAT B) primarily within the London area.

This appointment has been driven by the requirement for an individual to be responsible for the group’s centralised project appraisal function. This role has been created to guide and mentor colleagues within the group to achieve project delivery excellence.

As Director – Fit Out and Construction, they will be responsible for providing reports and reviews to the Board regarding assigned project progress and any potential and current escalating risk. The primary purpose of this position is to employ investigative measures and recommendations in relation to project planning, site set up, the programme and the quality of works to protect the group’s financial interests and operational liabilities.

They will act as the ambassador for the group in their assessment of all project stakeholders from client to professionals, to Sub-Contractors ensuring that all operations are carried out with high quality and commercials standards.

This is a unique opportunity for a project delivery expert to join a prestigious Fit Out business. This position would suit those who are highly experienced construction professionals seeking to pursue a career which remains in the remit of project delivery, without the responsibility of project execution. Due the nature of the role, this person will ideally have:

  • A minimum of 15 years + experience operating at Director or Executive level within an industry leading Office Fit Out Main Contractor
  • Experience of overseeing both CAT A and CAT B projects including cut and carve / retrofit
  • A natural trouble-shooter with the ability to interrogate a programme
  • Understanding of the preconstruction phase and able to decipher a contract
  • Vast technical experience including MEP / commission programme and expertise in the entire RIBA lifecycle
  • Able to confidently offer a solution focused approach to issues and risk
  • Possess the gravitas to command respect from colleagues, but the approachability to ensure colleagues embrace
  • Experience of producing management reporting suitable for board analysis
  • Able to conduct a site risk assessment
  • Up to date knowledge of Building Regulations
  • Experience of working with the professional fraternity – Project Managers, Architects, Structural Engineers and Surveyors
