We’re looking for a qualified lawyer to join our Offshore Syndicate as a Claims Executive on a permanent basis. This role would suit someone who is curious, proactive and eager to develop their career in a supportive and collaborative environment. You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with an experienced team, gaining exposure to a broad range of offshore claims while continuing to build and deepen your marine claims expertise. This is an ideal role for someone looking to take the next step in their career and grow within a well-established and respected P&I Club. We also have a hybrid working model (minimum 2 days in the office - after probation).

Overall responsibility of the role: To provide sensitive, responsive, imaginative and cost-effective claims handling and general support to members and brokers with claims issues.
Role responsibilities:
- To manage proper handling of own claim files, including file husbandry in accordance with current claims procedures manual.
- To maintain accurate estimates on each file in accordance with the Club’s estimating philosophy and to investigate the cause of each claim.
- To prepare reports including; agenda notes, notification to reinsurers, club circulars etc.
- To report in writing notification of high potential, large claims to Directors, Department Managers and the relevant underwriter.
- To report to, and assist Loss Prevention Department, the Head of Claims and the relevant underwriter where a claims trend or problem vessel is detected.
- To share knowledge, information and experience across the claims team and department as a whole, including assisting the Knowledge Manager in gathering information for My Claims.
- To develop the skills and knowledge required for the effective performance of the role by participating in and actively contributing to training and development activities.
- To work with underwriters to identify, attract, develop and retain business for the mutual benefit of the club.
- To assist the Head of Claims and Deputy Manager with or take the lead with ad hoc club projects.
- Where appropriate, handle Legal Costs Cover (LCC) claims allocated by the Head of Legal Costs Cover or Head of Claims and assist the Head of Legal Costs Cover with general legal queries and tasks in relation to Legal Costs Cover, as may be required to be completed by the team from time to time.
Experience required:
- Experienced in marine claims handling.
- UK-qualified lawyer.
- Educated to degree level in law (or equivalent).
- Strong communicators with a proactive and analytical approach.
- Eager to learn, develop, and contribute to a team environment.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
