Exceptional Weekend Teaching Opportunity | Small Classes | Outstanding Students | Above-Market Remuneration

The Shine Academy is a small-group tuition provider specialising in preparing students for competitive London entrance exams (7+, 8+, 11+ and 13+), as well as GCSE and A-Level.

Since 2019, we've taught over 800 students and helped them secure offers from London's top independent schools, through a highly structured curriculum delivered by experienced teachers who are passionate about what they do.

Thanks to the steady growth of the Academy, we're seeking an experienced teacher with expertise preparing students for competitive 11+ and 13+ entrance examinations.

This is an in-person teaching role based in Fulham.

We are not an online tutoring company.

We believe the very best learning happens face to face, where teachers can build meaningful relationships with students, respond instinctively to their needs, and create an engaging classroom environment.

If you're passionate about teaching, enjoy working with bright, motivated children, and are looking for a rewarding weekend role with genuine long-term potential, we'd love to hear from you.

  • Minimum of 3 years' teaching experience
  • Ideally experience within an independent school or another highly academic setting
  • Excellent knowledge of 11+ & 13+ or 7+ & 8+ English and Verbal Reasoning
  • Experience stretching academically able pupils while nurturing confidence and independence
  • Outstanding communication and classroom management skill
  • A warm, engaging teaching style with high expectations
  • A genuine passion for inspiring younger learners

About the Role

  • In-person teaching only from our Fulham centre
  • Weekend teaching (minimum commitment of 3–4 hours each weekend)
  • Opportunities to teach intensive holiday courses during half terms and school holidays
  • Long-term role with opportunities for increased hours as the Academy continues to grow
  • Why Teachers Love Working at The Shine Academy
  • Teach Highly Motivated Students

Our classes average just six students, giving you the opportunity to teach in the way every teacher wants to.

You'll work with bright, enthusiastic children from many of London's leading independent primary schools who enjoy learning and are supported by highly engaged families.

Enjoy Real Classroom Teaching

If you've missed the energy, interaction and satisfaction of face-to-face teaching, you'll love working at Shine.

Every lesson is delivered in person, allowing you to build strong relationships and adapt your teaching naturally, in a way that's hard to replicate at a distance.

Help Build Something Special

We're ambitious about becoming London's leading provider of small-group English tuition.

We're looking for teachers who want to contribute ideas, refine teaching approaches and help develop what we believe will become a best-in-class English curriculum.

Your expertise will be valued and your ideas welcomed.

Focus on Teaching

We've intentionally kept administration to a minimum.

Outside the classroom, responsibilities are limited to a short weekly recap email for parents and occasional brief conversations after lessons.

That means more time spent teaching and less time completing paperwork.

You'll teach from our modern, air-conditioned Fulham office, with complimentary tea, coffee, snacks and lunch provided on teaching days.

Travel expenses, including train fares or car mileage, can be reimbursed.

Most importantly, you'll become part of a collaborative team of experienced teachers who enjoy sharing ideas, supporting one another and continually raising standards.

  • A Role That Values Great Teachers
  • We recognise that exceptional teachers have many choices. That's why we offer:
  • Above-market remuneration (negotiable according to experience)
  • Prompt and reliable payment
  • Travel expenses can be reimbursed
  • Consistent weekend teaching throughout the academic year
  • Additional paid opportunities during school holidays
  • Small classes averaging just six students
  • Professional autonomy in the classroom
  • The opportunity to influence curriculum development
  • Excellent facilities in a convenient Fulham location with outstanding transport links
  • A respected and rapidly growing academy with an excellent reputation and outstanding student outcomes

If you're an outstanding English teacher who enjoys teaching in person, thrives on working with ambitious young learners and wants to become part of a supportive, high-performing team, we'd love to hear from you.
