In the role of Key Account Manager within our Protective and Marine division, you will be responsible for developing key accounts in the UK & Ireland region within our Energy sector, including Upstream / Downstream Oil, Gas & Chemical, Renewables (Wind), and Subsea, aligned with divisional strategy. This position can be based anywhere in the UK with travel to clients. It is ideal for an experienced account manager or a technical expert with sales experience in this sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage existing key accounts and prospect for new business, providing detailed market and customer information during quarterly reviews.
- Develop and implement a business plan (SherPlan) to maximize sales, volumes, and profit.
- Utilize and support visibility of project/customer information in daily activities.
- Prepare and deliver detailed presentations to internal and external stakeholders, including Board level when appropriate.
- Participate in the annual appraisal process and ongoing reviews.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external partners (CST, GSC, TSD, FEET, PDM).
- Negotiate contracts and price adjustments, ensuring proper documentation and targets are met.
- Handle customer complaints and claims to achieve satisfactory resolution.
- Advise on paint systems and product lines, aligning with company policies.
- Understand customer needs and develop cost-effective specifications.
- Organize customer trials with the Technical Service Department.
- Forecast products in collaboration with Customer Service and Supply Chain, providing monthly updates.
- Maintain a balanced product mix to meet budget and increase profitability.
- Develop relationships with departmental influencers within key accounts.
- Complete internal reports accurately and timely, including Salesforce, Sherplan, and others.
- Foster team culture and provide training and development.
- Implement health & safety and security protocols proactively.
- Produce market service plans, analyze trends, and identify opportunities and threats.
- Conduct SWOT analysis and adjust budgets accordingly.
- Report monthly on progress, market conditions, and competitors.
- Collaborate with project development to secure projects in the region.
- Aim to be the primary or sole supplier for key accounts.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree qualified (preferred).
- 8-10 years of B2B sales experience, preferably in the same or similar industry.
- Background in protective coatings within the Energy sector.
- Self-motivated, team player, resilient, results-focused, organized, and skilled in planning.
