The role of a Business Development Manager for the Northern UK territory is to develop new business and maintain existing business accounts within the automotive finishes side of our business. This role is a strategic, customer-facing role that supports growth for brands we partner with and works closely with distribution partners and internal teams. The position is field-based within Sherwin-Williams UK&I reporting to the UK and Ireland Market Manager, and covers Scotland and Ireland.

Accountable to development new Bodyshop end user business within the Northern territory. Sales of up to £6,000,000, measured by growth within targeted new accounts. Responsibilities include:

  • Growing new bodyshop business, with an element to maintain a good relationship with several distribution sales teams to help grow bodyshop business.
  • Working with some of our end users including the Octoral, DeBeer and U9K brands.
  • Managing a good relationship with customers and internal staff.
  • Working in conjunction with sales and technical services for all brands within Automotive Finishes UK&I.
  • Introduction of new products and services to be offered to distribution and bodyshop accounts.
  • Managing the execution of multiple sales and related business strategies by streamlining programs, overseeing implementation, and coordinating marketing activities for refinishes as a product group.
  • Daily interactions with business partners, presenting to large groups of sales and technical staff, attending industry events and networking within the industry and business segments.
  • Representing the voice of the customer in product management, marketing, and R&D.
  • Driving the strategic sales focus of the wider Automotive UK&I business.
  • Daily interaction with the UK&I management team and the technical services consultants.
  • Provision of competitor analysis and business development ideas linked to the overall business strategy.
  • Being a leader and ambassador of Sherwin-Williams core values and standards.

Strong B2B sales experience, ideally in automotive refinishes. Knowledge of Bodyshop operations and distribution channels. Excellent relationship-building and presentation skills, including the ability to engage large groups. Competitor analysis and strategic planning capabilities. Familiarity with Sherwin-Williams brands is a plus. Likely a background in automotive, coatings, or industrial sales.
