About The Sherborne

The Sherborne aspires to be a beacon for arts and culture in the South West, emerging as one of the newest cultural venues in the UK. The Role

As part of our growing team , we are looking for two proactive and reliable Part-Time Maintenance & Events Support persons to assist with the general upkeep of The Sherborne and its grounds. This is a hands-on role that plays a key part in keeping our spaces safe, welcoming, and ready for public use and special events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular checks and general maintenance tasks across the house and grounds (e.g., minor repairs, painting, gardening, and basic DIY).
  • Support set-up and breakdown of events, including moving furniture, setting up equipment, and liaising with staff and suppliers.
  • Monitor building condition and report any issues to external contractors when needed.
  • Ensure public areas are clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
  • Support health and safety checks, compliance, and safe working practices.
  • Assist with deliveries, storage, and logistical tasks as required.

Ideal Candidate

  • Practical, hands-on, and confident with basic maintenance tasks and tools.
  • Friendly, dependable, and comfortable working around the public and creative teams.
  • Flexible and willing to support a variety of needs, from fixing a door to helping set up an art installation.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance, caretaker, or facilities support role is desirable.
  • A keen eye for detail and pride in keeping a historic building and beautiful grounds in excellent condition.
  • Interest in arts, heritage, or community venues is a plus.
