The Sheppey, a busy, high-quality establishment known for its excellent food and welcoming atmosphere, is looking for a passionate Junior Sous Chef to join our dedicated kitchen brigade.

About The Role

As a Junior Sous Chef, you will be crucial in supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the daily running of the kitchen.

This is an exceptional opportunity to gain management experience, develop your culinary skills further, and contribute to our commitment to outstanding food standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a section of the kitchen and ensure all dishes are prepared, cooked, and presented to the highest standards.
  • Assist with menu development and the creation of daily specials.
  • Support the Sous Chef and Head Chef with stock control, ordering, and inventory management.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
  • Mentor and train junior members of the kitchen team.
  • Step up to lead the kitchen in the absence of the Sous Chef.
  • What We Are Looking For
  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie in a fast-paced, quality kitchen environment.
  • A strong passion for food and a desire to learn and progress.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • A solid understanding of kitchen management procedures, including stock rotation and food safety regulations (HACCP/Food Hygiene certification preferred).
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
  • A flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends.
