About the Role
Learner Support Assistants (LSA) work with students who experience barriers in their learning, helping with teaching and learning activities inside or out of the classroom/workshop. They work with classes, small groups, and individual learners. LSAs may also support students at break and lunchtime and with welcoming students into college each morning, or with accessing transport at the end of the day. LSAs can also be called upon to meet the intimate personal support needs of individual learners. All such activities are undertaken in accordance with clear policies and procedures and following adequate training. The LSA plays an integral role in the safeguarding of young people by acting as a champion and advocate for equality and diversity. LSAs work across the curriculum at all campuses located across Sheffield.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting students in their learning both inside and outside of the classroom
- Providing personal care and intimate personal care as required
- Updating student information on college systems working closely with SEND and curriculum staff to ensure positive outcomes for students
