Overview

For a fabulous Teacher of Science who is passionate about Biology, Physics and Chemistry. You may be a new or experienced teacher but will certainly have a determination to be an outstanding practitioner. The successful candidate will join our Science Department, which comprises 9 colleagues. Our team has built a world-class Science curriculum with broad coverage and exciting enhancement activities. You must be driven to continuously improve, be an excellent team participant and have strong subject knowledge.

Unsworth Academy is a thriving, oversubscribed, co-educational and non-selective high school. The school is on an exciting journey of school improvement. Our latest Ofsted report, in April 2025, was glowing and indicative of an outstanding judgement if it had been graded. A new three-year development plan titled “Exemplary Unsworth 2028” was launched in September 2025 to guide our journey to an even more sophisticated level of provision for the community we serve.

Responsibilities

As a science teacher, you will be expected to embody our values, strive for excellence, work in an organised and collaborative way, demonstrate resilience in the face of challenge, and show kindness, inclusivity, and strong moral purpose in all that you do. You will join a community that values diversity, champions high standards and is committed to nurturing both exceptional subject knowledge and outstanding character in every student.

Overall responsibilities include contributing to the development and delivery of the science curriculum, participating in a culture of continuous improvement, collaborating with colleagues, and supporting the academic and character development of learners.
