Location: Northallerton, North Yorkshire.

Note – Positions are available in Northallerton, Selby, Scarborough and Harrogate

Due to the new ‘Experts at Hand funding’ we are excited to advertise new ‘Advisory Teacher’ posts in our existing, established, Inclusion Hubs within North Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity, and we are looking for experienced and skilled teachers who are passionate about inclusion.

About the service

The Education and Inclusion Service works in partnership with all schools and settings within North Yorkshire to promote the inclusion, participation and achievement of children and young people with SEND.

These posts manage a peripatetic caseload as specified by the line manager covering specific areas of practice.

Specialisms are: -

  • Cognition and Learning
  • Early Development
  • Social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Communication and Autism.

About the Role

This is a key role in the Experts at Hand model, offering swift advice to schools.

Working under the guidance of the professional lead and Senior Advisory Teacher, you will support in planning and delivering effective support for Children and Young People (CYP) within the given portfolio area, developing the skills of the workforce in supporting CYP with SEND, both at an individual child and whole school/setting level.

Key elements:-

  • Support and advise schools and settings, and parents on a wide range of organisational and curriculum issues relating to SEND, including support to SENCos
  • Advise teachers on adaptations to the curriculum and pedagogy, how support for individuals can be delivered in whole group and small group interventions
  • Provide appropriate tailored early intervention for children and young people on their caseload
  • Develop a range of appropriate information / supporting materials (including web based) to support schools and families.
  • Draw upon a range of research-based methods and approaches effective in educational intervention for children and young people with SEND, including adaptive teaching, inclusive practice, curriculum planning and targeted cohort interventions.
  • Provide data on children and young people’s progress and outcomes to inform LA data collection and analysis, service development and professional performance management.
  • Support the professional lead in planning a coordinated response to training for the workforce / advice to parents/ carers and professionals

You should have a detailed understanding of how SEND, within the portfolio area, may impact on curriculum access, social and emotional development.
