Press Toolmaker Telford / Shrewsbury Up to Β£19 per hour Hours: 7.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday, 7.00am to 12.00pm on Friday
My client is a manufacturing company supporting and supplying a variety of industries. They are actively seeking a skilled and motivated Press Toolmaker to join their busy Toolroom team. You will play a key role in maintaining, repairing and improving press tools to ensure optimum production performance, quality and reliability. This is a hands-on position requiring strong toolmaking skills, a proactive approach and the ability to work effectively within a manufacturing environment.
β’ Repair, maintain and service a wide range of press tools (single stage and progression tooling).
β’ Carry out preventative maintenance activities in line with tool maintenance schedules.
β’ Diagnose tooling issues and implement effective corrective actions.
β’ Support production departments by responding to tool breakdowns and quality concerns.
β’ Conduct tool strip-downs, inspections and rebuilds.
β’ Manufacture and fit replacement tool components using conventional toolroom machinery.
β’ Assist with tool modifications and continuous improvement projects.
β’ Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
β’ Ensure all work is completed safely and to the required engineering standards.
Candidate Requirements: -
β’ Time-served Toolmaker, Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
β’ Strong knowledge of press tooling maintenance and repair.
β’ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
β’ Experience with conventional toolroom machinery, including milling, grinding and turning machines.
β’ Good understanding of tooling materials and heat treatment processes.
β’ Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
β’ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
β’ Flexible approach to supporting production requirements.
Desirable skills / knowledge but no a necessity: -
β’ Experience within automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments.
β’ Welding and fabrication experience.
β’ CNC machining knowledge.
β’ Experience with progression tooling.
