My client is an established manufacturing company supporting customers in a wide range of industries. To ensure that all the CNC lathes run effectively and efficiently in line with the build plan and to maximize machine utilization and OEE, you will be responsible for progressing all new product development in a timely fashion.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day running of the Star CNC lathes, ensuring production output matches the requirements on the build plan.
  • It is desirable that the CNC Setter has knowledge of setting and operating HAAS and Duggard machining centres, although this is not essential.
  • Responsible for job changeovers/tool changes and providing swift assistance to any breakdowns.
  • Ensure correct procedures are always followed regarding first offs of each part run, making sure first offs are taken into and signed off by the Quality Dept., and accurately recording hourly checks/downtime/changeovers etc.
  • Ensure the lathes are set and running before leaving each day with clear instructions left for the operator on the following shift.
  • Must be fully competent with regards to any further development work, being able to produce samples of new parts as required.
  • Liaise with warehouse FLT drivers to ensure that finished parts are taken down to stores when available.
  • Book all work manufactured onto the MRP system in real-time, ensuring works orders are added to each bin of work produced.
  • Responsible for keeping the CNC lathe area clean and tidy, ensuring all parts are kept in the correct place daily.
  • Keep a check on all stocks of tooling and raise any new tool requirements as early as possible to maintain tool inventory.
  • Ensure that the Team Leader is kept informed of all problems in the department.
  • Supervise and assist any other operators working in the area, helping with any issues raised and passing on expertise as required.
  • Provide support to the Team Leader in training and guiding new operatives within the department to maximize efficiency of production.
  • Jobholder must be reliable and a good timekeeper, as the role is fundamental to the efficient operation of the department.
  • Carry out any tasks within the scope and abilities of the function other than those listed above, as directed by the Team Leader.

You will have proven experience in setting and operating CNC machines.

Hours: Rotating Shifts 6.00am to 2.00pm and 2.00pm to 10.00pm Monday to Friday. Weekly Pay.
