SCOM Engineer

Contract: 2 Month initial contract
Location: Remote
Rate: £500 – £540 per day (via Umbrella company)

Key Responsibilities

• Discovery and Health Check.
• Conduct a comprehensive review of the existing SCOM architecture and deployment:
  • Assess the configuration of all SCOM application components (Management Servers, SQL backend, Gateway Servers).
  • Evaluate Management Packs (MPs) for relevance and performance.
  • Review the current SCOM version and determine the upgrade path to SCOM 2025 including SCOM agent OS compatibility.
  • Identify opportunities for potential SCOM application integrations.
  • Identify opportunities for housekeeping and system clean‑up activities.
  • Document identified issues, risks, alert noise, overrides, and tuning opportunities.
  • Identify gaps in native monitoring capabilities and automation processes.
  • Identify opportunities for scripting and synthetic transactions.

Key Skills & Experience

Analysis and Recommendations

• Provide a current SCOM monitoring environment health check report covering:
  • Architecture review
  • Cloud readiness
  • Configuration and performance gaps
  • Alert tuning and MP optimisation
  • Remediation priorities
  • Opportunities for enhancing the SCOM environment

The main technology required is Microsoft SCOM but the SME will need to be able to discuss the customer\’s infrastructure and Microsoft Azure environment.
