Working Pattern: This is a full-time post working 35 hours per week. We’re committed to supporting staff to achieve a healthy work-life balance and are happy to talk about flexible working. This is a hybrid role, working from Holyrood and from home. Very occasional weekend working will be required to facilitate training delivery.
Pension: Although not a civil service employer, we offer civil service pension arrangements with an employer contribution of 28.97% of basic annual salary

This is an exciting time to join the Scottish Parliament as a Fire Safety Co-ordinator. This is a new fixed term role working in our Resilience Office. The Resilience Office is a small, dedicated team of six supporting a consistent, robust approach to Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Business Continuity, Resilience and Risk across the Parliament. While this role specialises in Fire Safety, you’ll also have opportunities to contribute across the wider resilience agenda.
As our Fire Safety Co‑ordinator, you’ll lead key elements of our fire safety strategy. This includes designing and delivering training, planning and evaluating evacuation exercises, and ensuring actions from risk assessments and inspections are completed. Your work will produce reliable data to guide senior decision‑making on fire engineering improvements and fire alarm management processes.
You’ll engage with colleagues across the Parliament and become a trusted and visible member of the Resilience team. You’ll help foster a collaborative culture, promote positive communication, and support our commitment to diversity, inclusion and high‑quality service.
We’re looking for someone with relevant fire safety qualifications, such as:
- Fire & Rescue Service fire safety modules and enforcement experience
- HNC/HND in fire safety science or fire engineering
- CFPA Europe Diploma
- NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification with specialist fire training, with evidence of applying your knowledge in a practical workplace environment.
You’ll have a strong understanding of fire safety legislation and regulation in Scotland, particularly in complex organisations, and have experience of designing and delivering fire safety training and evacuation exercises.
You’ll have excellent communication, influencing and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
