Base pay range: Contract: Permanent
Location: Holyrood, Edinburgh with occasional working from home
Leave: 41.5 days (including public holidays)
Working Pattern: This is a term time post, working 38 weeks per year. You’ll not be expected to work during the Parliament’s recess periods. The post is part time, working 24 hours per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Clearance Required: CTC security clearance will be processed at job offer stage.
This is an excellent opportunity to join the Scottish Parliament’s Broadcasting Office as a technical operator. The Broadcasting Office provides live and on demand feeds from the Scottish Parliament’s six committee rooms, the Debating Chamber and online environments for national and international media organisations; and live streaming on www.scottishparliament.tv and for a range of online channels.
In addition to parliamentary business, the Scottish Parliament hosts an extensive range of televised and webcast public events, requiring substantial planning and a creative approach to television coverage. Reporting to a Senior Technical Operator, you’ll set up and operate all audio, video and broadcasting equipment to provide excellent television and audio coverage and recording of parliamentary proceedings in the Chamber and committee rooms, working with a combination of on-site and cloud-based broadcast and conferencing systems.
Ideally having worked in a similar environment, it is essential you are skilled in the operation of broadcasting audio and vision equipment, requiring rapid technical reactions. In addition, you’ll have excellent customer service skills and good social and political awareness to deal with the people involved in parliamentary business, working in high profile formal parliamentary situations. You’ll have relevant understanding of a broad range of audio broadcast equipment, remote camera control systems and the ability to produce professional standard graphics and/or animations would also be preferred.
