Base Pay Range
- Location: Hybrid working from Holyrood, Edinburgh and from home
- Salary at appointment: £35,769
- Salary range: £35,769 to £43,264
- Contract: Permanent Full-Time
- Leave: 41.5 days (including public holidays)
- Working Pattern: Our normal working week is currently 37 hours. However, we will move to a 35‑hour working week no later than March 2026. We currently operate a wide variety of work patterns, successfully balancing lifestyle choices with business requirements. All requests for flexible working hours will be seriously considered.
- Pension: Civil service pension arrangements with an employer contribution of 28.97% of basic annual salary
- Clearance Required: CTC security clearance will be processed at job offer stage

Key Responsibilities
Are you passionate about security and eager to share your knowledge with others? We are looking for dedicated and experienced Security Trainers to join our team. If you have a knack for developing engaging lessons, delivering impactful training sessions, and staying ahead of current threat levels, we want to hear from you!
The key responsibilities for the Security Trainers include monitoring and reviewing the progress of learning through audits and discussions with stakeholders, ensuring all training records are up to date for access by team managers and individuals, and providing real-time data to aid individual and team performance. Trainers are also responsible for creating lesson plans and engaging training content for all in‑house courses to meet the full-year training program requirements, delivering all in‑house training content, and evaluating all training and development programs using defined methodologies.
Additionally, trainers must adjust training techniques to meet individual learning needs, seek feedback from staff and other stakeholders to continually develop the training offered, and build effective relationships with the Parliament’s Colleague Experience team. The ability to create lesson plans from Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or external sources and deliver training sessions based on these lesson plans, either in‑house or online, is essential. Finally, trainers must identify training and development needs through analysis and consultation with different stakeholders.
