The Scottish National Investment Bank is seeking a high-calibre Business Manager – Investments to work in close partnership with the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and the senior investment leadership team. This is a pivotal role at the heart of the Bank’s investment function, supporting the effective delivery of our investment strategy and ensuring strong governance, prioritisation and operational excellence across Investment Origination and Portfolio activity.

Operating with significant autonomy, you will act as a trusted adviser to the CIO, helping to translate strategic intent into clear priorities, high-quality decision-making and effective delivery across a complex and fast-moving environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic & Executive Support
    • Act as a trusted adviser to the Chief Investment Officer on strategic, operational and organisational matters.
    • Support the development and delivery of the Bank’s investment strategy, including contributions to corporate publications such as the Business Plan and Annual Accounts.
    • Coordinate investment inputs to Executive Committee, Committees and Board activity, ensuring high-quality, decision-focused submissions.
    • Support effective prioritisation and decision-making across the investment functions, proactively managing emerging issues where appropriate.
  • Investment Governance & Operations
    • Lead the coordination and smooth running of investment governance forums, including monthly Asset Management Committee meetings and Board / Committee cycles.
    • Oversee investment reporting requirements across origination and portfolio activity, ensuring accuracy, insight and alignment with governance standards.
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across investment processes, systems and ways of working.
    • Ensure investment data, systems and platforms (e.g. Power BI, PortF, Salesforce, SharePoint) are fit for purpose and continuously improved.
  • Delivery, Coordination & Collaboration
    • Act as a central point of coordination between the CIO, Executive Directors, investment teams and corporate functions.
    • Manage interdependencies, delivery risks and actions arising from investment governance activity.
    • Work closely with business partners across People & Culture, Risk, Finance and Operations to deliver CIO priorities and BAU activity.
    • Lead and deliver discrete projects and initiatives on behalf of the CIO.
  • Leadership & Management
    • Provide line management to direct reports supporting Investment Operations, including oversight of investment team resourcing, spend and licences.
    • Role-model inclusive leadership behaviours and contribute to a high-performing, collaborative investment culture.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Significant experience operating in a complex organisation (e.g. public sector, regulated, financial services or similar).
  • Experience supporting senior executives and working closely with executive-level stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement and operate with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Demonstrable analytical and organisational skills, with experience producing high-quality Executive Committee and Board papers.
  • Highly effective collaborator, able to influence outcomes without formal authority.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Well-developed communication skills, able to synthesise complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Understanding of investment environments and commercial acumen is desirable.
