Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture (SASA) is the body with the responsibility for certifying seed potato crops in Scotland and we work in collaboration with staff at the local area offices throughout Scotland to ensure that seed potato crops are certified in accordance with legislation.

Based in Edinburgh with the Seed Potato Classification Scheme (SPCS) team, the primary objective of the SPCS Administrative Officer is to assist colleagues by providing effective administrative support to the Scottish Seed Potato Certification Scheme.

Responsibilities

  • Data management in support of the Seed Potato Certification Scheme (SPCS) using the SPUDS database system to maintain records. Managing ware crop notifications and keeping up to date records of growers.
  • Liaise with internal/external stakeholders to assist with general SPCS queries.
  • Main point of contact for purchasing within the SPCS, liaising with area offices around Scotland to manage supply of equipment required for inspections.
  • General administrative duties related to the SPCS including monitoring mailbox/general mail duties, checking applications and updating SPUDS database.
  • Organising the delivery of samples from area offices to SASA along with actual delivery duties when required.

Qualifications

Valid driving licence which enables you to drive in the UK.
