Do you want to start your career by helping to maximise the impact of Scottish public procurement spend and support Ministerial priorities and ambitions for Scotland?
This is an exciting opportunity for four Procurement Assistants to work within the Scottish Procurement and Property Directorate, build their careers and gain a qualification.
As a Procurement Assistant you will be part of one of four key teams ; Procurement Information Hub in our Management Information Shared Service, Directorate Business Management Unit, ICT Procurement team and Scottish Government Procurement, Contract Management and Capability team.
Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a team within the Scottish Procurement and Property Directorate and be given full training on all aspects of the role, including the technology we use and the legal requirements we must follow.
  • Develop yourself including your understanding of procurement, and you will be given the ongoing support and development that you need to succeed.
  • Undertake general administrative/finance duties and assist colleagues as required, including maintaining and updating procurement spreadsheets and filing.
  • Provide support on work activities such as procurement exercises, including arranging and attending meetings and taking minutes.
  • You will ensure that management information is accurate, submitted to schedule and to a high standard.

Qualifications
As an entry level role in the procurement profession this role requires a commitment towards continuous professional development. You will be expected to gain a relevant qualification such as an SVQ2 Business Administration or SVQ3 Procurement and Supply Chain qualification once in post. Support will be provided and time will be given to work on your qualification.

Working Pattern
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role. From October 2025, the Scottish Government will require staff in hybrid-compatible roles to work in-person 40% of the time, either in an office or other agreed work location. Security Checks
Successful candidates must complete the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), before they can be appointed. BPSS is comprised of four main pre-employment checks – Identity, Right to work, Employment History and a Criminal Record check (unspent convictions).
