The School of Rhythm - Let's Drum! is a music school specializing in drum tuition. Established in 2001 in Forest Hill, South East London by Dominique Pizzinat, it was formerly known as The Forest Hill Drum School. Over time, the school has expanded its drum studios to Penge, SE20, continuing its commitment to providing high-quality drum education. Today, the school boasts 8 drum teachers in 3 state of the art sound proofed studios operating 7 days a week.
This is a regular part-time role for a Drum Teacher located on-site in SE London. The Drum Teacher will be responsible for providing drum lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels. The day-to-day tasks include:
- Preparing lesson plans
- Teaching chart reading and drum techniques
- Evaluating student progress and reporting to the head of music
- Preparation for Trinity College or Rock School grades
- Maintaining daily teacher's admin duties, following internal policies
An engaging personality, love for children, and an authentic desire to help others reach their full potential, along with being a true team player, are essential.
Qualifications:
- Experienced live performer, proficient in most styles - ie. pop, rock, funk, soul, disco, latin, jazz etc.
- Proficiency in sight reading to grade 7 level or equivalent
- Excellent mastery of all drum rudiments
- Experience teaching one-to-one and groups, aged from 5 to adults of all levels is a plus
- Able to prepare students for grades 1-8 of Trinity College or Rock School
- Passion for music and fostering musical growth in students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, love for children, and a passion for teaching and helping others reach their full potential
- Relevant teaching certification such as a university degree is a big plus
