Role Overview
The Website & UX Manager will own and continuously optimise our website UX and functionality with a view to offering a best-in-class online experience for our customers. This is a key role within the Digital Team, and you’ll work collaboratively with different stakeholders across the business to ensure that the needs of different users are met, and that our services are presented and communicated in the best way possible. This is both a creative and technical role which will require you to wear many hats and work on a variety of cross-functional projects.
Key Responsibilities
UX, QA and Testing
- Responsible for overall development and UX on The School of Life website and Voucher Portal product, and for ensuring that our website provides the best possible experience for our users who often have different goals from a visit to our website.
- Create our vision for the website roadmap and user journeys and maintain a clearly prioritised development roadmap for the website and voucher portal. Incorporate user research into our roadmap planning.
- Identify and report bugs, issues, and inconsistencies
- Scope, create, manage and prioritise our website Jira tickets in line with our business goals, ensuring that priorities are clear for requests from different departments (therapy, business, international partners etc).
- Lead meetings with our development agency and ensure they understand our priorities and are working on the right things to the right deadlines
- Analyse our website data to help inform our marketing team on trends around on-site journeys, landing pages and search
- Conduct regular UX/UI reviews of the site using tools like surveys, Clarity, Google Analytics
Website Management
- Make website changes (copy, image, layout) for different departments across the business including our international Partners, At Work teams
- Monitor and maintain the website\’s performance, speed, and security, reporting issues to our development agency where needed
- Update other key website pages such as Privacy Policy, T&Cs and FAQs
- Manage our URL redirects using the Redirects App and any technical SEO tasks (working closely with our SEO consultant and Growth Manager)
- Be the go-to person at TSOL for technical support on strategic projects
- Ensure our tech stack map is maintained and up to date
- Manage our Zapier account to integrate web applications and automate our workflows
- Manage our Domain and DNS, updating settings where required
- Maintain and update the Wordpress CMS guide where needed, and be the in-house expert on our CMS
- Support Customer Service with any technical queries, and occasionally cover our Subscriptions inbox where needed due to team holidays
- Be the point of contact for our International Partners with troubleshooting, bug fixes, GTM tag set up and release updates
Data, GTM, A/B Testing
- Evaluate our data requirements for the website and ensure that these requirements are captured, prioritised and executed as part of our development roadmap to ensure we can make data-backed decisions about our website and digital products
- Use GA4 to understand user behaviour on our website, and spot opportunities for UX improvements
- Work closely with the Digital Director and our Data Consultant to ensure our datalayer set ups are fit for purpose
- Manage our A/B testing roadmap, create new ideas for tests and report on the results of tests
Technical Project Management & Expertise
- Be responsible for evaluating requirements and opportunities for optimising our tech stack, ensuring we are always using the most appropriate technologies and software for our business needs
- Be hands on and resourceful in thinking holistically about ways we could execute or test a new feature or functionality before it is built into our codebase
Agency Management
- Manage the relationship with our development agency Leobit (with the support of Digital Director)
- Manage the relationship with our Data and SEO consultant(s) – with the support of Digital Director ensuring that priorities are always clear for their work streams
- Manage our relationships with other 3rd parties including server/hosting provider, DNS and domain management provider, IT Support provider
Candidate Profile
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient in Jira software
- Experience defining acceptance criteria for user stories and testing tickets in web deployments
- Collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively with multiple teams
- Proactive problem-solver with a can-do attitude
- Interest in wellbeing and mental health
