Your main responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will carry out planned preventive maintenance regimes, conduct safety inspections, close non‑conformities, improve equipment condition, reduce downtime, perform minor repairs and lifecycle replacement of components, and cover out‑of‑hours calls via on‑call rota.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repairs and component replacement.
  • Rectifying faults on lift/escalator equipment in breakdown cases.
  • Checking lift/escalator function as part of maintenance checks (speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature, power supplies).
  • Routine inspection and adjustment of lift/escalator equipment.
  • Reinstating lift/escalator and completing service documentation.
  • Advanced fault finding and diagnostic procedures using technical manuals and test equipment.
  • Site surveys and attending relevant training sessions to keep technical knowledge up to date.
  • Working in accordance with the company’s safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements.
  • Contributing to company safety objectives by maintaining and monitoring current safety systems under direct control and implementing agreed changes to the safety management system.

What you bring:

  • Experience in lift/escalator servicing/maintenance/repairs (preferred).
  • NVQ level 3 minimum qualification in lift/escalator maintenance or equivalent.
  • Willingness to work towards Schindler Certification Level 3 Red.
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge, including multi‑brand equipment.
  • Advanced problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to deadlines and within efficiencies.
  • Ability to work independently with a flexible approach.
  • Good communication skills at different levels (client/service leader/inspectors).
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive lifting and use of hand and power tools.
  • Proven fault finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Good administration skills and punctuality.
  • Full UK driving licence.
