Beechwood School is looking for a qualified teacher who can teach Biology, Chemistry or Physics up to A Level to join our Science department in January 2026. The Science Department offers A-levels in the 3 sciences and BTEC in applied Science. This is therefore an opportunity to teach up to A-Levels.
This is an exciting time to join the department as we now offer a knowledge-rich curriculum that is sequenced to support all students to retain and use knowledge. The school supports all teachers to become quickly established through our instructional coaching programme for new staff. Our classrooms are disruption free, with staff on walk during lessons to ensure that there are no disruptions in lessons and the corridors. We are relentlessly focused on improving the quality of teaching and the expertise of all of our teachers.
We have dedicated time in the school calendar for co-planning and subject specific CPD in subject teams, this has resulted in reduced workload as our teachers do not plan lessons individually. We take workload reduction seriously. Our students work hard after school to complement the brilliant teaching that takes place in lessons. We use online platforms to support spaced retrieval at home and teach our students about effective learning strategies. Our GCSE results have confirmed to show improvements, so we are confident our approach is effective.
If you are interested in finding out more then please read the welcome letter from our Headteacher and feel free to visit the school in advance of applying. Beechwood School is committed to flexible working and we welcome applications from colleagues who may wish to be considered in a part-time/job share capacity. We are, of course, committed to safeguarding the welfare of our students and staff and will conduct all necessary DBS checks as part of our recruitment process.
For further details and an application pack please contact Jyoti Kumar, Trust HR Officer on 01753 520473 or via email to j.kumar@beechwood.slough.sch.uk. Informal discussions and visits to the school are welcome.
As part of our due diligence checks, the school will carry out an online search for shortlisted candidates. Deadline for applications: 8 December 2025. We reserve the right to appoint before the closing date for an exceptional candidate. The Schelwood Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
