Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Sunderland City Council for the role of Waste Assessment Officer for the Refuse and Recycling Service.

Hours of work are 37 hours per week, 9.25 hours per day, Tuesday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team and individually to promote the Council\’s refuse and recycling service with emphasis on the correct and appropriate ways to dispose of waste and recycling.
  • Visit residents in various areas who need support in understanding the principles of recycling, reducing contamination, bin presentation and waste reduction.
  • Respond to reports from Crews, Councillors and Officers; under the direction of the Team Leader, help residents by challenging, influencing and enthusing them to improve recycling and help the local environment.
  • Conduct audits of residents\’ recycling and align actions with Council Policies to support the work of Enforcement Officers.
