An opportunity has arisen for an organised, dedicated Day Concierge to join Catherine Booth House, our busy service supporting homeless families. Portsmouth Homeless Family Service is based across three residential Lifehouses, accommodating a total of 45 homeless, vulnerable families (which included couples, single parents and pregnant mothers) with support needs. We also support 32 families living in Local Authority Sublet tenancies and a further 14 families living in other housing.
The Day Concierge is a crucial front of house position, central to ensuring our residents, staff and visitors receive a warm, friendly welcome when arriving at our service. As well as possessing excellent customer service skills, the Day Concierge plays a key role in the safety and security of our service—maintaining visitor logs, arranging building checks and taking on the responsibility of Fire Warden during emergencies.
The Day Concierge will conduct follow‑up telephone calls, update handover reports and carry out tasks such as organising internal and external post and communications. Strong administrative skills, including Microsoft applications and bespoke IT systems are required, however full training will be given.
The successful candidate will be able to work under their own initiative and remain calm in a very busy environment. They will also demonstrate the core Salvation Army values of integrity; accountability; compassion; passion; respect and boldness.
