Early Intervention Worker

The Salvation Army forms part of the Christian church and boasts an extensive social remit, providing a range of social and community services, including services for children and the elderly, those trapped in modern-day slavery, homeless people, individuals struggling with addiction, and people seeking employment.

New Direction is a Salvation Army Lifehouse located in Braintree. The centre provides accommodation and support based on individual needs to 14 individuals who are experiencing homelessness. We are looking for a committed and dynamic Early Intervention worker with a passion to motivate and empower our clients to reach their full potential.

The role of Early intervention worker is to improve the resident induction experience into the centre and provide an initial point of contact. This will inevitably help to prevent the resident from leaving after the first few days, or the foreseeable future. In addition, it will help to reduce feelings of isolation, fear, loneliness and promote engagement.

You will work with a team to ensure the smooth running of the Centre, supporting and welcoming clients at the start of their stay and when moving into independent accommodation.

The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:

  • Good customer service and time management skills with ability to prioritise workload
  • Motivation towards supporting vulnerable clients to achieve focussed and positive life outcomes
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good team working skills
  • Proficient in a range of IT packages including Microsoft

Appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, a criminal record check (DBS: a satisfactory Enhanced DBS Disclosure with Barred List Check of the Adult Workforce) and evidence of your Right to Work in the UK in line with Home Office requirements.

As we are not a licensed sponsor, applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. Details on how to prove your Right to Work can be found here.

Please note that any Salvation Army employees who are under notice of redundancy and apply for this position will be given priority consideration.
