The role focuses on testing the UI of a new Embedded Payroll Service, ensuring integration with backend APIs and delivering a high‑quality, scalable front‑end application.

The QA Engineer works closely with UX designers, product managers and developers within a hybrid squad structure, supporting continuous improvement of the product and development process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test and maintain the new front‑end application, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design and Business Analysts to ship an elegant, reliable product with a seamless user experience.
  • Participate in refinement sessions to provide complete stories, concise designs and acceptance criteria ready for delivery.
  • Maintain documentation describing logic, coding/configuration, testing and changes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the software development lifecycle and development processes.
  • Act as an active team player, partnering effectively with all team members to meet commitments.
  • Collaborate with global Sage teams to define, design, deliver and maintain services across the Payroll and HR Business Unit.
  • Support a hybrid working model, requiring 3 days per week in the Newcastle office.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Front‑end testing experience with Playwright and accessibility testing.
  • Experience using Git Hub Copilot to enhance delivery efficiency.
  • Proficiency in Java Script & Type Script (essential) and familiarity with C# & SQL (favourable).
  • Knowledge of AWS services (e. g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, Document DB).
  • Tooling experience with Postman, Bruno and Playwright.
  • Agile development and Scrum experience preferred.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail and effective communication.
  • Manual and cross‑browser testing experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, agile environment.
