We are looking for a talented Humanities Teacher who can bring subjects such as History, Geography or Religious Studies to life. You will inspire curiosity about the world, encourage critical thinking, and help pupils make meaningful connections between their learning and their own experiences. This role is ideally suited to a teacher who wants the time and space to focus on what drew them into teaching in the first place: building relationships, inspiring a love of learning and delivering high-quality, engaging lessons. Our small class sizes allow teachers to know their pupils well, adapt learning to individual needs and interests, and see the impact of their teaching every day. Rather than teaching to the middle of a large class, you will have the opportunity to personalise learning, nurture confidence and help pupils rediscover themselves as successful learners. You will work with pupils who are often thoughtful, capable and eager to learn, but who may need support to rebuild trust in education and confidence in their own abilities. Success in this role comes from patience, understanding and a genuine belief in every young person's potential.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated Humanities lessons that inspire curiosity and participation.
- Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
- Support pupils with a range of SEND, SEMH and EBSA needs.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of SEND needs and learning profiles.
- Foster pupils' confidence in discussion, debate, research and independent learning.
- Monitor progress and use assessment effectively to inform planning.
- Promote positive behaviour through relational and trauma‑informed approaches.
- Contribute to personalised learning plans and EHCP reviews where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals.
- Support pupils' personal development, wellbeing and preparation for adulthood.
Qualifications
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification (experienced UQTs will be considered).
- Has experience teaching Humanities at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Has a passion for History, Geography, Religious Studies or related subjects.
- Understands the importance of building strong, trusting relationships with young people.
- Recognises that some of the most significant barriers to learning are not always visible and can confidently support pupils who may be withdrawn, anxious or lacking in confidence.
- Is committed to inclusive, personalised education.
- Has experience working with pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
- Demonstrates excellent classroom practice and high expectations for every learner.

- Experience within specialist education, alternative provision or independent schools.
- Knowledge of EBSA and trauma‑informed practice.

Position Details
- Position: Permanent (Full‑time preferable, but Part‑time and Flexible working will be considered)
- Start Date: September 2026 or January 2027
- Pay: MPS (£32,916 - £45,352) or UPS (£47,472 - £51,048) dependent on experience.
