What are we looking for?
- Essential
- Strong background in training / education / L&D, ideally at a senior level
- Proven experience designing training strategies and programmes
- Confident building partnerships with external organisations and suppliers
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to turn ideas into deliverable plans (roadmaps, milestones, priorities)
- Desirable
- Experience in Health & Safety / compliance / risk / construction / engineering sectors
- Familiarity with vocational qualifications and professional training routes (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, IIRSM, CITB, etc.)
- Experience delivering training (in-person and/or virtual)
- Understanding of adult learning, engagement methods, and inclusive training design
- Experience securing discounts, sponsorship, or supplier support
What will you be doing?
As Associate Director – Training & Education, you’ll lead the development of a practical strategy and roadmap for training and education across our not-for-profit CIC. You’ll help us build strong partnerships with training providers to unlock discounted or donated courses, while improving how we educate, engage and develop our network. This is a hands-on role with real ownership, working closely with the Board and other Associate Directors.
- Create and own a Training & Education Strategy aligned to our mission and priorities
- Build a clear roadmap for delivery (quick wins + long-term plan)
- Identify, approach and develop partnerships with training providers
- Negotiate discounted training places, free access, donations, or sponsored cohorts
- Help shape and improve our internal training model (content, delivery methods, engagement)
- Recommend training pathways (e.g. entry-level to advanced competence development)
- Support development of learning formats (webinars, workshops, CPD events, peer learning)
- Work with the wider team to ensure training is accessible, inclusive and high-quality
- Track outcomes and impact (participation, feedback, learner progression)
