About the Role
We’re looking for a highly creative and detail-oriented interim Project Designer to join our design studio. In this role, you’ll be instrumental in creating custom and bespoke rug designs for our global clientele. From concept to final technical artwork, you’ll collaborate with sales, production, and world-class interior designers to bring exceptional textile projects to life. This is a fixed term full-time, virtual role from March 2026 to November 2026, reporting to our Project Design Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Create innovative custom and bespoke artwork tailored to client needs across a range of different rug constructions.
- Translate creative direction into thoughtful, production-ready rug designs.
- Self-manage projects from conception to completion.
- Partner with our sales team, production experts, and clients to accurately interpret design briefs in agreed timescales.
- Work with architectural plans, CAD drawings, and other technical files to ensure design accuracy and scale.
- Attend client and designer meetings, providing design and product guidance as needed.
Organization & File Management
- Ensure design files are efficiently structured and stored, maintaining a well-organized database with layered working files.
- Monitor task management program, ensure it accurately reflects project information and deadlines.
- Take over existing projects from other designers, review files and stay on top of workflow without losing information in the process.
- Share knowledge, tools, and techniques to foster creative growth within the team.
Who You Are
You’re a highly motivated individual with textile or graphic design experience. You have a passion for design and a knack for organization. You’re extremely artistic and can create artwork in different styles of design and illustration. You thrive in fast-paced environments, excel at balancing multiple projects and timelines, and are a natural collaborator. You combine technical expertise with a creative mindset to deliver outstanding results. You are flexible and able to work with a diverse team across the globe.
Key Skills and Qualifications
Education
- BFA in Textile Design or related field (e.g., Surface, Graphic, Interior).
Experience
- 3+ years industry experience. Experience with rugs will be given preference. The ideal candidate will have Handtufted rug production experience.
Technical Skills
- Expert level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) on Mac software.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong mathematical skills with ability to comprehend measurements and floorplans.
Project Management
- Strong planning and organizational skills to manage multiple projects, anticipate obstacles, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Extremely organized.
Creative Expertise
- Technical ability to interpret and conceptualize client requests, then execute revisions based on feedback.
- Exceptional attention to detail in pattern repeat, scale, color matching, and overall design sensibility.
- Strong Illustrator or draftsman with experience drawing or painting from life.
Leadership
- A team-oriented mindset who finds joy in collaboration.
Communication
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; good command of spoken and written English is a must.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with AutoCAD.
