The predicted salary is between 12 - 15 £ per hour.

Our clinical team is responsible for the veterinary care of the animals we serve, and our Veterinary Nurses hold a critical role in offering specialist clinical support to the team.

Why this role matters

Our Veterinary Nurses are essential to the smooth running of the Centre. You will provide hands-on care, support surgical procedures, and contribute to animal welfare in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Working hours

Shifts are ad hoc during the week and weekends. This is a casual, zero-hours contract, offering maximum flexibility to fit your lifestyle. You will help fill gaps created by annual leave, sickness, or increased workload. Our latest shift is up to 9.00pm. Shifts may also include being on call during operational hours.

  • Providing direct medical and surgical patient care.
  • Monitoring anaesthesia, perioperative nursing, and theatre practice.
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date clinical records.
  • Dispensing drugs following professional guidelines and clinic rules.
  • Upholding high standards of clinical hygiene and biosecurity.
  • Supporting training for student vets and nurses, and contributing to CPD for the team.
  • Participating in continuing professional development.
  • Supporting welfare and case work.

Required qualifications

  • Fully qualified Veterinary Nurse with current RCVS registration.
  • Proven experience in veterinary practice, wildlife rehabilitation, or animal care.
  • Ideally located within an easy commutable distance of the centre, within 20 minutes for on call purposes.

We are looking for a casual Veterinary Nurse to join our passionate team at Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre. Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre is open 7 days a week, and takes in over 4000 wild and domestic animals each year. On site we have specialist facilities and resources to support the work we do. Our dedicated wildlife assistants provide expert care for the diverse species we see, from pigeons and bats to seal cubs and foxes.
