We are seeking reliable and physically fit Yard Labourers to join our team just outside central Southampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with picking materials, handling, loading, and unloading goods, supporting goods-in and goods-out operations. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in warehouse management systems and mechanical tasks within a dynamic environment. The Yard Labourer will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth flow of operations at our site, contributing to safety and efficiency.
Hourly Pay Rate: £13.45 (overtime rate is time and a half).
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8am till 5pm, 40-hours per week.
Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment, chain lifts etc.
- Manually lifting, carrying, handling a range of products across the yard and warehouse facility.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, ensuring accurate documentation, and stock inventory.
- Working to a steady pace across your 8-hour shift, in a physically demanding role.
- Operate forklift trucks safely, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Handle materials manually, which can be oily, greasy, or dirty.
- Collaborate with team members to optimise yard and manufacturing operations and workflow.
Essential and Preferred Requirements:
- Previous experience as a yard operative, or labourer, or manual picker of heavy products or equipment are essential.
- Valid forklift licence or certification is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to handle heavy loads safely and efficiently.
- Able to work Monday to Friday in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical fitness to perform manual handling tasks for extended periods.
This is a full-time, temporary to permanent opportunity, with career opportunities into logistics and supply chain, manufacturing and workshop. Once you are established in the business, you will have a long-term career available to you. The site is accessible by trains and bus services.
