How you’ll contribute to our mission Working predominantly in one site (Edinburgh Zoo), however there may be extremely rare occasions where you will have to help on another site (Highland Wildlife Park).

This role would be expected to work alone and as part of a team.

The role 85 - 90% hands on and 10 - 15% supervisory level, oversee the performance of other staff or contractors in your trade.

Some of the things you’ll do : Take the day-to-day lead to ensure all assigned repairs and projects are delivered effectively, safely, on time and to budget Attend design team meetings with designers/customers to give expert advice on infrastructure and facilities.

Provide advice in relation to design & build projects that have limited specifications/drawings and require the input of a skilled builder.

Supervise sub-contractors and ensure works completed to a suitable standard.

Ensure all buildings and perimeter walls are inspected, maintained and documentation kept to meet relevant legislation and best practice standards at all times.

Maintain a consolidated stock list of all materials, and order supplies required for the daily operation of your activity according to the formal procedures set down by RZSS Perform other reasonable duties and projects as directed by your manager What we’re looking for: Relevant City and Guilds certification or S/NVQ Level 3.

Understanding of basic principles of structural design, ability to work to design drawings.

Knowledge of risk assessment processes.

Competent on bricklaying and stone repairs.

Experience in the maintenance/construction of buildings/similar structures.

Working to CDM, building and H&S regulations.
