We have an exciting opportunity for a dermatology RVN keen to develop their nursing career and specialise. The successful candidate will work as part of the dermatology team in our friendly multidisciplinary referral hospital. Working as part of a team of specialist clinicians, residents, interns, RVNs and Patient Care Assistants you will be involved in a range of interesting and challenging dermatology cases.
Responsibilities
- Assisting our dermatology clinicians in delivering a high standard of patient care, including support during consultations, diagnostic procedures, and treatment.
- Supporting with a variety of dermatological diagnostic procedures (e.g. skin scrapes, cytology, allergy testing, biopsies) for both outpatient and hospitalised patients, with the opportunity to follow cases through from diagnosis to management.
- Participating in dermatology clinics, including coordinating patient admissions and discharges, and providing regular patient updates.
- Delivering excellent nursing care for dermatology patients across the hospital, including those with chronic skin conditions and complex treatment plans.
- Engaging in client communication, including admit and discharge appointments, providing guidance on at-home skin care, medication administration, and follow-up protocols.
- Contributing to the teaching and support of student veterinary nurses and veterinary students during clinical rotations, particularly within the dermatology service.
Schedule
This is a full-time position working 35 hours per week, a combination of 5 x 7hr days Monday to Friday. Full-time hours are preferred, however, please get in touch to discuss possible part-time arrangements.
Requirements & Training
Referral nursing experience, although advantageous, is not required as full specialist training and support will be provided.
