Overview:
The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) are looking for an Events Executive to join our Events team on a 6-month temporary basis (maternity cover).

As our Events Executive, you\\\’ll orchestrate conferences, symposia and workshops for up to 500 attendees. You\\\’ll juggle multiple budgets, negotiate with venues and suppliers, and collaborate with key stakeholders and members across the chemical sciences to craft engaging event programs that inspire action.
You\\\’ll wear many hats—financial manager, digital host, on-site project manager, and relationship builder—as you guide events from concept to successful execution. When virtual and hybrid events call for technical expertise, you\\\’ll confidently manage digital platforms and host live sessions (training will be provided).
Your exceptional organisational abilities will shine as you coordinate delegate materials, manage website content, liaise with sponsors, and delegate tasks to team members. Throughout it all, you\\\’ll maintain the highest standards of customer service while representing the RSC with professionalism and enthusiasm.
At the RSC we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate. Although this role is contractually based at our Cambridge office, you will be able to work from home within the UK, with the expectation that you will attend the office as needed for your role . This role requires attendance at the office on an ad-hoc basis. If you need flexible working arrangements, please outline this in your application.
The role involves a standard 35-hour working week, except when on-site at events. You will be required to travel nationally to support our events. Events may require occasional evening and weekend work.

- Proven event and project management skills.
- Team worker – the job holder will be a key member of the team working together to deliver each event. The job holder should be confident team leader and supportive team member.
- Excellent time management – the job holder will be working on several events at any one time.
- Excellent interpersonal skills (verbal, written, negotiation).
- Confident in the projection, construction and management of budgets and controlling resources.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Confident with IT solutions.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with virtual event platforms.
- Experience of the events industry.
- Experience of working with the chemical sciences community.
- Experience of membership organisations.
