Education Coordinator, Community Development - Home based, UK

We're seeking a dynamic Education Coordinator to champion early career teachers, support education projects in the South East of England and transform how chemistry is taught in classrooms across the nation. You will support our strategic goals through regional engagement and delivery within the UK and Ireland, with a focus on the South East of England. You will travel extensively across this region to support our education communities through working with internal and external stakeholders including schools and members. You will also support the delivery of key education projects on a local basis and engage with our local members to act as advocates for chemistry, showcasing best practice in schools’ engagement activities.

As part of our Education Community Development team, you'll be at the forefront of developing our support for target audiences. This work currently focuses on projects to support student teachers and early career educators across the UK and Ireland as they develop into confident classroom practitioners. From coordinating innovative training programs to building meaningful partnerships, you'll help provide impactful support that empowers these communities to offer a high-quality chemistry education for all. This role will require extensive travel in the South East of England; visiting schools, working with members, meeting stakeholders and attending events. This may involve weekends and non-core working hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Project management of projects under the education community development programme aiming to support the proposition for student and early career teachers, including:

• Research, design and implementation of projects to support student and trainee teachers, and early career teachers to become confident classroom practitioners.
• Coordinating our national and local student and trainee teacher offering to ensure consistency.
• Supporting student and trainee teachers, including development and delivery of online sessions and establishing networks.
• Acting as an advocate for best practice for early career teachers, providing guidance and advice to colleagues and partners to improve the impact and outcomes of our services.

• Introducing our support to teachers at the start of their career through delivering sessions to student and trainee teachers.
• Developing successful partnerships and relationships with organisations and education stakeholders in the region to support delivery of our programmes.
• Engaging with our local members to act as advocates for chemistry, showcasing best practice in schools engagement activities.

What we are looking for:

• A degree in science, preferably in the chemical sciences, or an equivalent qualification, together with evidence of working with schools, ideally with a teaching qualification.
• An understanding of school level, further and higher education, the teacher training and early career pathways and a breadth of knowledge of the education systems in the UK and Ireland.
• An understanding of customer requirements, including those of: school teachers; school students; FE teachers, HE academics and support staff; HE students; careers advisors; employers; governments and its agencies, and non-government bodies.
• Good project management, communication, team working and presentation skills and experience and the ability to work independently.
• Experience of stakeholder relationship management.
