ABOUT THE ROYAL OAK
The Royal Oak is a much-loved local in Rothley, Leicestershire - and it’s just had a full transformation. Almost £500,000 has gone into the renovation, and the pub is relaunching with around 60-70 covers and a genuine food offering. Everards, one of the East Midlands’ most respected independent brewers, is behind the project. The menu is starting straightforward, but the plan is to build something more ambitious over the first few months - and the right kitchen team will be a big part of that.
THE ROLE
We’re recruiting both a Full-Time and a Part-Time Line Cook ahead of opening. You’ll be working in a newly fitted kitchen, helping to deliver consistent, quality food service across a 60-70 cover venue. The menu will evolve quickly - within the first two to three months, the aim is to move it to the next level, so there’s a real chance to contribute to where it goes.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Prepare and cook dishes to a consistent standard across service
- Work across sections of the kitchen as needed during each shift
- Maintain a clean, organised kitchen in line with food safety standards
- Support the kitchen setup ahead of opening and service
- Contribute ideas as the menu develops over the coming months
- Work effectively as part of a small, close-knit kitchen team
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Essential:
- Proven experience working as a line cook or in a similar kitchen role
- Comfortable working evenings and weekends as part of your regular schedule
- A reliable, hands-on approach - this kitchen needs people who get on with it
Useful, not essential:
- A basic food hygiene certificate (Level 2) - we provide in-house training if not
- Experience in a pub kitchen or casual dining environment
- Any involvement in menu development or kitchen setup
BENEFITS & CULTURE
- Financial: £13.50 per hour for both full and part-time roles.
- Training: Full in-house food hygiene training provided. No certificate needed to apply.
