Location: Admiral Jellicoe House, Portsmouth

Job type: Permanent P/T - 15 hours per week 9am-5pm Saturday and Sunday

The Royal Naval Benevolent Trust is a Royal Navy & Royal Marine charity that gives help, in cases of need, to serving and former Royal Naval ratings and Royal Marines. We also help their partners, children and some others connected with them. The RNBT has a ‘family-run’ feel and we have carefully created a supportive, friendly and close-knit team making it a unique and very special place to work.

Reporting to the Care Home Manager and working as part of a small, supportive team, the Receptionist will play a key front-facing role at the Care Home. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Be a welcoming first point of contact when visitors arrive
  • Ensure a smooth check-in and check-out process for all visitors and contractors ensuring they are signed in and are aware of their responsibilities whilst in the care home
  • Answer telephone calls and enquiries, directing appropriately and taking messages effectively
  • Support with admin tasks as and when required to support the management team in the care home
  • Ensure the reception and public facing areas of the home are clean, tidy and always well-presented
  • Coordinate the ordering of supplies and equipment where appropriate
  • Monitor and comment on the quality of the Reception Services contributing to the home’s quality improvement initiatives
  • Any other duties as requested by the Home Manager

Our care home operates 7 days per week. The hours of work are 15 hours per week and the post holder will be required to work both days at the weekends. This role would suit a personable, friendly individual who has experience working on a busy reception, who is able to manage changing priorities and present a warm and welcoming presence for our home for all residents, relatives, staff and visitors.

A naval, armed forces or non-profit background would be beneficial but is not essential and our team have built their experiences across a wide range of sectors and we strive to be as inclusive as possible to drive diversity across our teams.
